| Key Features of Tielle Plus Borderless
Dressings
Tielle Plus Borderless has a multi-layered structure
consisting of a sheet of hydrophilic absorbent polyurethane foam bonded to a thin
polyurethane foam membrane between which is sandwiched a fibrous fleece containing
a mixture of viscose and superabsorbent acrylate fibres.
When placed upon
an exuding wound, the absorbent foam wound contact layer initially takes up liquid
and expands to take up the shape of the wound bed. Excess fluid not retained by
this layer is then drawn into the inner core of the dressing by the viscose fibres
and taken up by the highly absorbent acrylate fibres to form a stable gel.
The
polyurethane foam backing forms an effective barrier to bacteria under normal
conditions of use but is highly permeable to moisture vapour, a property that
makes an important contribution to the total fluid-handling characteristics of
the dressing. Indications Tielle Plus Borderless is indicated for use on most
types of heavily exuding wounds such as leg ulcers, pressure sores and fungating
wounds, particularly those where the use of an adhesive dressing may be inappropriate.
